Libra Children’s Therapy is committed to good practice which protects children from harm. We recognise our responsibility to provide an environment which always promotes the safety of the child. To achieve this, we will:
• Develop an awareness of the issues which may lead to children being harmed.
• Create an open environment by identifying a ‘Designated person’ to whom the children can turn to if they need to talk.
• Use a client-centred / child-centred style.
• Ensure complaints, grievance and disciplinary procedures are dealt with appropriately.
• Share information about concerns with children and parents and others who need to know.
• Provide information as and when required by law.
• Ensure good and safe working/playing practices.
• Be involved in training made available through the various agencies and strengthen links with these agencies.
• Keep Safeguarding policies under regular review (every 2 years minimum).

Any therapist carrying out therapy for Libra Children’s Therapy, will keep the sessions confidential to the child unless they disclose information which means they or others are in danger of being harmed. Or unless they give me explicit verbal permission to share information otherwise.

Background knowledge in relation to child abuse, the general principles of Safeguarding and the ability to recognise and respond to abuse are important issues. All therapists undertaking any therapy under Libra Children’s Therapy have and will, continue to attend regular safeguarding and child protection trainings at regular intervals in order to be up to date with the current child protection information.
Complaints Policy
At Libra Children’s Therapy CIC, we aim to provide a safe, professional and high-quality service to children, young people, families, schools and professionals.
We welcome feedback, including complaints, because it helps us understand what we are doing well and where we may need to improve. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, we encourage you to tell us so that we have the opportunity to listen, respond and, where appropriate, put things right.

WC1N 3AXYou can make a complaint by email or in writing. If you need support to make a complaint, please let us know and we will make reasonable adjustments where possible.

We will acknowledge written complaints within 5 working days.
We aim to investigate complaints fairly and provide a full written response within 20 working days. If a complaint requires longer to investigate, we will let you know and provide an update on progress.
Where a complaint identifies that something has gone wrong, we will consider what action can be taken to put things right and what we can learn from the experience.

If you remain unhappy following our response, you can ask for your complaint to be reviewed by a director who was not involved in the original investigation.
Where a complaint involves one or more of our directors, we will take appropriate steps to ensure that it is considered as independently as possible. This may include seeking an independent person to assist with the review.

If a complaint raises a concern about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person, this will be dealt with under our safeguarding procedures. Safeguarding concerns will be acted upon promptly and will not be delayed by the complaints process.

We will handle complaints sensitively and confidentially and will only share information where this is necessary to investigate the complaint, safeguard a child or young person, or meet our legal or professional responsibilities.
Making a genuine complaint will not affect the quality of service or therapeutic support provided to a child or young person.
